Medicare Announces Metaverse Presence

After people worldwide became aware of the potential of telemedicine, Medicare made its Metaverse debut. Now, the specialized hospital boasts that it is the first in the industry to enter the expanding virtual space.

However, Aster DM Healthcare has pledged to bring the same “metaverse experience” to all its UAE facilities.

In the meantime, the increasing demand for telemedicine services is driving healthcare providers’ hasty push into the Metaverse.

Alisha Moopen, Deputy MD of Aster DM Healthcare, predicts that in the future, Metaverse interaction will replace conventional diagnoses and treatments of patients by adding real-time medical consultation by experts.

Regarding telemedicine, which is the practice of providing medical care over long distances via electronic communication, it seems only logical to move forward with technology and incorporate the Metaverse.

The trend of healthcare providers opting for remote consultations for non-emergency patient cases began to rise in early 2021.

This has led to more than 20,000 annual virtual patient consultations for Medicare.

However, the number has climbed dramatically during the COVID-19 pandemic as more patients have turned to telemedicine to consult with specialists.

Metaverse as an Alternative to Telemedicine

Patients’ medical needs flooded in at the height of the pandemic, requiring prompt attention. Due to the worldwide lockdown and travel restrictions, patients could not consult with their doctors or address their worries.

While telemedicine is an excellent solution to the growing demand for doctor-patient contact, it is not without its drawbacks.

The Metaverse video conference is unlike traditional methods of telemedicine, which use telecommunications platforms like Zoom. Even though they are far away, patients can still experience what it’s like to be at a hospital.

Meanwhile, the Medicare Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Dubai plans to use virtual and augmented reality platforms to reach out to people needing specialized medical attention. Moopen remarked,

“The plan is to be strategic and assess use cases vital for patients’ health needs. People will experience firsthand the qualities of the healthcare facilities and infrastructure even when they cannot visit the hospital.”

Using the Metaverse will become a reality since the patient will no longer have to worry about being uncomfortable in a medical setting.

The Metaverse will also make it possible for people to visit their doctors regardless of where they are physically located. They can sense the hospital’s atmosphere and observe other details even if they are not in person.

The Metaverse also reduces costs and saves valuable time for patients and their families who must travel to the hospital.

They don’t have to waste time and money visiting multiple hospitals before deciding because they get a firsthand look at each facility’s capabilities.

Medicare Collaborates with Biometaverse

When creating its virtual facility and associated services, Medicare collaborated with Biometaverse, a provider of digital healthcare solutions. Medicare suggests that the problem can be solved by making healthcare more readily available and inexpensive.

Making healthcare more accessible means patients no longer need to go to the hospital before visiting a doctor or speaking with other healthcare professionals. As a result of their low price,

Patients don’t have to spend money on plane tickets or hotel stays because of this.

Moreover, Medicare’s two Metaverse-based specialist facilities are now being uploaded. Dr Shanila Laiju, CEO of Medicare, has stated that incorporating real-time consulting is key to the organization’s mission to deliver comprehensive healthcare services.
